Saving Lives. Strengthening the Human-Animal Bond.
Our Mission
Rancho Coastal Humane Society is dedicated to saving lives of abandoned companion animals, promoting adoption into loving homes and offering education programs and support services that inspire and strengthen the human-animal bond.
Military Working Dog Memorial
Rancho Coastal Humane Society is proud to host one of only eight Military Working Dog (MWD) Memorials in the entire nation—and the first private memorial west of the Mississippi! With San Diego’s deep connections to our military, what better way to honor these brave canine heroes.
The memorial features a statue modeled after Chyba, a German Shepherd who served with the 95th MP Battalion in Germany as a narcotics detection dog. The memorial also proudly displays the crests of each military branch.
The memorial is open to the public daily, except on Tuesdays when we are closed.
