Welcome to the NEW SDPets.org. Have a look around!

Lend a Paw.
Safe a Life.

For adults 18 and older, volunteering can be an amazing experience and way to give back to your community. There are a variety of roles and opportunities depending on your area of interest, talent and expertise.

Animal Companion

Volunteers can work with dogs, cats and rabbits. Volunteer companions help keep our animals healthy both physically and mentally. By spending time with these companion pets, you’re providing invaluable socialization that helps prepare them for their new forever home. RCHS Animal Companions may spend time socializing, grooming, cleaning, training and for canines, walking the animal.

No specific skills are required, but prior experience with animals is helpful. All Animal Companion volunteers must commit to coming once a week for at least six months.

Events and Media Team

We always need help during our community and signature events throughout the year. These volunteers help us with anything from transporting an animal for a television appearance, checking in guests at a special event, distributing flyers or even gathering in-kind donations.
